The Michelin Guide's review
A designated UNESCO World Heritage site, this unique and mysterious place is formed of rooms distributed over three different levels and linked up by passages and stairways. These chambers were hewn out of the rock 4 000 or 5 000 years ago, and to a depth of 11m. This is where the famous statue of The Sleeping Lady, one of the most remarkable works of prehistoric times, was found. Bones were found too: a reminder that these caves were primarily used as a burial site.
