The Michelin Guide's review
The castle, which stands on a rocky outcrop, is partly now a pousada. It looks down on the surrounding countryside. A visit will reveal three periods of construction. First, you cross a surrounding wall built in the late 17C and inspired by the Vauban system, then you go up a switchback as far as the second line of rather crude fortifications, probably built by the Moors. Finally you reach the keep and the parade ground, which date from the late 14C.
