The Michelin Guide's review
The name refers to Virgil's mythological tale, whose action took place near this rock, and in which the Trojan helmsman of the Aenead fleet fell into the sea. The coast is dotted with caves, the most famous of which is the Grotta Azzurra, so named on account of its blue waters. The caves are hidden by the imposing headland and in springtime the Palinuro primroses are in full bloom. Lovely beaches nearby.
