Palazzo Chiaramonte-Steri
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The palace was originally called Lo Steri which came from Hosterium, a fortified dwelling. Furthermore, you will see that it has adopted a clean, square shape. It was built in 1307 for one of the most powerful families in Sicily, the Chiaramonte, who gave their name to the architectural style developed at the time for several civic buildings. This style is found on the façade, combined with the Gothic lines whose beautiful trefoiled windows are a perfect example.
