The Michelin Guide's review
It is possible to explore the huge expanses of grassland and dry forests that make up the National Park of Yala by jeep, except in the southeast of the island, which is strictly protected. Regular sightings include elephants, wild buffalo, sambhur, bears, musk deer, macaques, jackals, multicoloured birds... It will require more luck to see a panther of Ceylon, an endangered endemic species, even though there are many in the park.
