The Michelin Guide's review
Padua University, founded in 1222, is housed in the Palazzo Bo which owes its name to an inn with the sign of a bull which used to stand on the site. It has retained several features from its illustrious past, including students' coats of arms in the elegant 16C courtyard; beautiful frescoes in the medical lecture room; the splendid Aula Magna; a rostrum once used by Galileo in the Sala dei Quaranta; and, of particular interest, the "teatro anatomico", an anatomy amphitheatre dating from 1594.
