The Michelin Guide's review
At the top of the hill stands the parish church Ottery St Mary, flanked by twin towers. Consecrated in 1260, it was then turned it a collegiate church by Bishop Grandisson of Exeter, who had the chancel, nave, central aisle and Lady Chapel modified in the Decorated Gothic style. Much of the liturgical furniture dates back to that period (1280-1377), including the Grandisson clock and the gilded wooden eagle, one of the oldest and finest lecterns of its kind in England.
