Surrounded by splendid maritime pines, the extensive ruins of Ostia Antica make a superb sight in the early morning light and fresh sea air. Stroll through the ancient streets, explore the baths and the Piazzale delle Corporazioni and imagine the busy activity that once reigned in the days when ships docked here at the mouth of the Tiber. A visit to Ostia clearly illustrates that Rome covered much more than its traditional seven hills, extending right out to the coast.
