Orwell Corner Historic Village
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This superbly restored crossroads village, settled in the early 19C by pioneers from Scotland and Ireland, retains the atmosphere and flavour of the island's agricultural origins. Visitors can tour the 1864 farmhouse, which also served as post office, general store and dressmaker's shop, along with a church, school, community hall, blacksmith's shop, shingle mill and animal barns. Fiddle music and step dancing are features of the traditional ceilidh (KAY-lee).
