The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The Arbailles forest extends over the uplands of a limestone bastion surrounded by the Saison, Laurhibar and Bidouze valleys. This beech forest, dotted with chasms, gives way to the south to pastureland which extends as far as the Spanish border. No road heads into the heart of the massif, which can only be explored on trails - this is by far the best way to enjoy the mysterious light of the beech groves, the scent of moss and mushrooms and the sound of the wind rustling through the branches of the forest.
