Joslyn Art Museum
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This pink-marble fortress is an outstanding example of Art Deco architecture, built by Sarah Joslyn in 1931 as a memorial to her husband. The collection includes works from the ancient world to the present, emphasizing 19-20C European (Degas, Matisse, Monet, Renoir) and American (Cassatt, Homer, Remington, Benton, Wood, Pollock) art. More than 400 Karl Bodmer watercolors-of landscapes and native culture-document the Swiss artist's 1832-34 journey up the Missouri River with Prince Maximilian of Germany. Art lovers peruse shelves of art books in several of its 17 galleries.
