The Michelin Guide's review
This is the only capitol building in the world with working oil wells on its grounds. "Petunia," erected in the middle of a flower bed in 1941, and six sister wells have generated more than $8 million in revenue since they were first drilled. With 650 rooms, the Greco-Roman building of limestone, granite and marble features history murals and portraits of famous Oklahomans. Built in 1914-17, the capitol was not crowned with the dome that its original design called for; work to correct that "oversight" began in 1999 and finished on statehood day, November 16, 2002.
