The Michelin Guide's review
Ohara Museum of Art, which is named after the enlightened patron who built up its collections during trips to Europe, is intended as a replica of the Greek temples. Its incredibly rich collection gives an overview of contemporary Japanese artists and Chinese Buddhist art, but focuses on Western painting and sculpture. From Monet to Matisse, all the modern French schools are well represented (Impressionism, the Barbizon School, Nabis, the Fauves, Symbolists). The exhibition comes to an end with Soulages and De Kooning.
