The Michelin Guide's review
This Shinto shrine, said to have been founded by the legendary 12th emperor (1C), is the most important of the Oga peninsula. It is depicted by three pavilions: the main pavilion is easily accessible, while the third is a 1hr-walk up the mountain. The shrine is still associated with the Namahage ritual. These spirits descended from the mountain gather together on January 3rd and the 2nd weekend of February (Sedo Festival) to take part in ceremonies with dancing and music.
