The Michelin Guide's review
This distinctive 30m-high lighthouse (1875) was automated by electricity in 1963. A narrow stairway ascends past photographs and documents that chart the history of the island's lighthouses. The tower itself contains numerous examples of lenses and lanterns. From the observation platform at the summit, views stretch across the shoreline's dark red dunes. The lighthouse has been converted into an inn and some of its rooms command matchless views of the Northumberland Strait.
