The Michelin Guide's review
Silent Valley Reservoir is blocked off by a dam. It was finished in 1933 and supplies the region - including Belfast - with drinking water. There are pleasant walks that offer visitors the chance to enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the place, with its fine views over the narrow valley. North of the lake, a path leads to another reservoir, Ben Crom. A permanent exhibition organised in an information centre at the entrance to the estate charts the history of the dam.
