The Michelin Guide's review
The southern part of this island is a designated wildlife refuge and a haven for migrating birds, particularly in spring and fall, when over 350 species have been observed. Observation towers command splendid views over the landscape of dunes, marshland and beaches. In summer, beware of the swarms of mosquitoes and greenhead flies, and of Poison Ivy, a deadly flowering plant that grows by the roadsides.
