 Well worth the diversions
Civil and military monument
  The Michelin Guide's review
Viewed from the north side which faces Madison Square Park, the structure looks like an iron (hence the name), the acute angle of its façade formed by Broadway and Fifth Avenue. The first skyscraper in New York and, at the time, the highest in the world, the building rises 22 stories straight up from the sidewalk. Famed architect Daniel Burnham designed the structure, which was finished in 1902.
