The Michelin Guide's review
Recognisable by its elegant symmetry and belfry with a statue of Justice at the top, City Hall is a blend of French Renaissance and English Georgian (1812), as was quite common in 19C America. To save money, the façade facing away from the city was built out of brownstone, while the south-facing city façade alone was clad in marble. The white Alabama limestone façade was only added in 1956.
