Shadows-on-the-Teche
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Moss-draped holm oaks create a play of light and shadow over Shadows-on-the-Teche, this elegant brick Greek-Revival mansion, built by sugarcane planter David Weeks in 1834. The house remained in the Weeks family for four generations before being entrusted to the ownership of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Nearly everything here is original, from the fine Federal and Empire-style furniture from New York and Philadelphia, to the Staffordshire china and family portraits.
