The holdings of this small museum illustrate trends in American art from the colonial period to the present. The 18C portraitists (Trumbull, Stuart, Smibert), the Hudson River school, the eight artists of the Ashcan school (including Sloan, Henri, Luks) and such renowned 19C and 20C masters as Homer, Whistler, Wyeth and Cassatt dominate the collection.
