The Michelin Guide's review
Interested in whaling? The New Bedford Whaling Museum's collections of artefacts, prints, log books and journals are among the world's finest. Paintings, scrimshaw (carvings on shells and ivory), and cards written by sailors are among the many exhibits which illustrate the history of whaling. The most impressive exhibition room is the large hall housing the model (half its actual size) of the Lagoda, a whaling ship which operated out of New Bedford until 1925.
