The Michelin Guide's review
A flight over the Nazca Lines is a fabulous experience, but not recommended for the faint of heart. Over 300 of these giant geoglyphs were drawn on the red pampas earth between 900 BCE and 500 CE, depicting animals including a whale, a condor, a spider, a hummingbird (one of the best preserved) and a huge pink flamingo (over 300m long). Thanks to the absence of wind and rain on this arid plateau they are exceptionally well conserved. They were studied for over 50 years by Maria Reiche, whose house has been turned into a museum.
