The Michelin Guide's review
Called "one of the sublimest curiousities in nature" by Thomas Jefferson, Natural Bridge soars 215ft above Cedar Creek. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1998, this limestone span began forming about 100 million years ago. Geologists believe the water level was once much higher. As the level dropped over time, the arch grew taller and wider, worn away by the rushing waters. The moderate mile-long hike beyond the bridge to Lace Falls is worth the trek.
