The Michelin Guide's review
The fortified Porta Capuana is a city gate constructed in 1484 after a design by Giuliano da Maiano. It is flanked by two massive towers, the black granite of which contrasts with the elegant Renaissance decoration of the white marble arch. The nearby Castel Capuano, was the former residence of the Aragonese before becoming a prison and law court in the 16C.
