The Michelin Guide's review
Spaccanapoli is the popular name of the lower decumanus, one of the east-west axes of the Ancient city. It meets with Via Benedetto Croce, Via San Biagio dei Librai and Via Vicaria Vecchia, which cut through (spaccano) the Ancient centre of Naples. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this historical working-class neighbourhood is full of life in the daytime, with its little shops, hawkers and the sound of voices spilling out from open windows... and masterpieces hidden away in the churches.
