The Michelin Guide's review
This huge Carthusian monastery stands on an outcrop of Vomero hill. Founded by the Anjou dynasty in the 14C, it was almost totally reworked in the 16C and 17C. Splendid views across the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius, a church with sumptuous Baroque decoration, a harmonious, dazzling white cloister by the architect and sculptor Fanzago, a museum, with, in particular, an extraordinary collection of Neapolitan nativity scenes: all this awaits visitors at the Certosa di San Martino.
