The Michelin Guide's review
Opened in 1799, the city's natural history museum was moved to the former mint (Hôtel de la Monnaie) in 1875. Its sizeable collections span zoology, local fauna, osteology, palaeontology, prehistory, earth sciences, mineralogy, ethnography and conchology. In the zoology gallery, note the impressive skeleton of a whale, as well as that of a basilosaurus isis (between 45 and 36 million years BCE), the only one of its kind in France.
