The Michelin Guide's review
Stanislas Leszczynski, former king of Poland and Duke of Lorraine, had this square built in 1752-55. Entirely restored for his 250th birthday, it is more than ever one of the city's landmarks. The square's highlight is the marvellous gold-plated, wrought-iron gates, as beautiful by day as by night, when illuminations underscore the elegant lines of the surrounding pavilions. Take a seat on the terrace of a cafe and savour the gentle pace of life in Nancy.
