The Michelin Guide's review
It's impossible not to be impressed by the monumental chedi, whose bell-shaped roof is clad with orange-coloured varnished tiles. Phra Pathom Chedi can only be described in superlatives - it's the highest Buddhist monument in the world, the oldest in Thailand (built in the 3C, then restored in the 19C), and the most venerated in the country. Note the beautiful Buddha statues (standing Buddhas in the main wihan, seated Buddhas facing west in the ubosot, and reclining Buddhas in the western wihan), as well as the Dvaravati sculptures in the museum.
