The Michelin Guide's review
On a hill overlooking the port at the southern boundary of the former European concession, Glover Garden was home to a small Western elite in the mid-19C. An open-air museum, where nine of the elegant shingle and stone villas surrounded by parkland have been recreated, immerses visitors in a bygone colonial ambiance, with perhaps just a touch of sentimentality thrown in. Start off at the top of the hill, and be warned that the site draws a crowd.
