The Michelin Guide's review
You enter the lower city of Nafplio via Syntagma Square, which is lined with the tall façades of patrician houses, and bustles with pedestrians and café terraces. From here, your walk will take you past the town's numerous churches, including St George's Cathedral, home to the throne of the first king of Greece, and the Catholic Church (Frangoklissia), once a mosque. The neighbourhood is also home to the Archaeological Museum and the Vasilios Papantoniou Folk Art Foundation.
