The Michelin Guide's review
This little island 600m off the coast was fortified by the Venetians in 1473 to defend the harbour. The small fort ("bourc" in Turkish, from which Bourtzi is derived) is made up of a small port, a three-storey hexagonal tower and two fortified artillery platforms. Used as a high-end hotel from 1935 to 1970, it has been under renovation since the 2000s.
