The Michelin Guide's review
From Cambodia, the Mekong crosses Vietnam along two main arteries, the Tien Giang and Hau Giang, entering the South China Sea via nine estuaries which lend its name as the "river of the nine dragons". The waters of the delta are the setting for intense economic activity and unique landscapes, where river dwellers grow rice and catch fish. By travelling through its water channels by boat, particularly in My Tho, visitors will understand the importance of the mythical Mekong.
