The Michelin Guide's review
Inhabited as of the 8C, before Munich was founded, Schwabing was first a village and only became part of the Bavarian capital in 1890. Today it is the city's bohemian neighbourhood, a hub of bars and nightlife. As for the architecture, the buildings at Martiusstraße 5 and 7 are particularly good examples of Art Nouveau or Jugendstil. The grooves on the ground-floor façades, the use of stucco and colourful trompe-l'oeil are some of the characteristics of the movement in Munich.
