The Michelin Guide's review
Accessibly by ferry from neighbouring Hong Kong Island, Lantau is the largest island of the territory. You will land at Mui Wo, a small town known for the lovely Silvermine Bay Beach, before heading off to discover a landscape of lush green hillsides and secluded monasteries. Po Lin Monastery is an absolute must with its giant Buddha dominating the island from a height of 34m. Lantau, and more generally the Outlying Islands, provide a glimpse into a highly unexpected side of Hong Kong.
