The Michelin Guide's review
Mount Vernon, a plantation house overlooking the Potomac River was the residence of the first president of the United States, George Washington (1732-1799). The Georgian-style farmhouse has distinctive columns on the façade facing the river. The dining room is luxuriously decorated and the main bedroom has a mahogany four-poster bed, in which the master of the estate died. The tombs of George Washington and his wife Martha lie in the surrounding forests and gardens.
