The Michelin Guide's review
The medieval castle of the Dukes of Bourbon was built in the 14C and 15C then extended in the late 15C by Anne de France. All that remains today is the keep, which served as a prison from the 1775 to 1983. A visit gives you an insight into the history, in particular the 14C chamber of the duke and the prison apparatus with writing left by prisoners (including from the Second World War), which are touching testimonies to the lives of detainees.
