The Michelin Guide's review
In the mid-16C Ivan the Terrible granted considerable privileges to English merchants, allowing them free trade with Russia and offering them this little palace. The Old English Court dates back to 1571, making it one of the oldest residences in Moscow. An exhibition tells the history of English-Russian trade, duly regulated by contract, involving caviar and furs sent to Europe in exchange for wine and weapons.
