The Michelin Guide's review
A Visitor Centre built by the Scottish Wildlife Trust stands on the southern banks of the magnificent Montrose basin, a sort of lagoon whose relatively unpolluted marshy areas are ideal for the protection of the environment and which play a major role for migrating birds. Presentations explain the ecology of the marsh basins and it is possible to observe the wildlife: over 50,000 migrating birds including pink-footed geese, arctic sterns and herons.
