The Michelin Guide's review
Along with Rue Notre-Dame, this narrow street is one of the oldest in Montreal. Its curves and dips are explained by its origins as a footpath along the riverbank between the fort and the hospital. Lovely, well-proportioned 19C buildings currently line Rue Saint-Paul. The section between Boulevard Saint-Laurent and Place Jacques-Cartier features former warehouses, now transformed into shops and artists' studios.
