The Michelin Guide's review
This picturesque, tree-lined square is named after Emmanuel and Jean-Baptiste Saint-Louis, two eminent local businessmen. In the late 19C, the French-speaking middle-classes began moving to the area, attracted by its tranquil atmosphere, hence the lovely Victorian edifices distinguished by their whimsical rooflines and gables. The select neighbourhood soon became popular with Quebec artists and poets and continues to be a Francophone bastion for Quebec writers, musicians, filmmakers and actors.
