The Michelin Guide's review
The vast Place Royale du Peyrou is a promenade featuring two levels of terraces. It was created in 1688 to accommodate a monumental statue of Louis XIV, erected here in 1718 on the upper terrace, which enjoys a fine view. The most original portion of Peyrou square is the elegant water tower and the 880m-long and 22m-high St Clement Aqueduct; its two tiers of arcades were inspired by the Pont du Gard.
