Lopusan Monastery is imbued with a very serene atmosphere. The church of St-John-the-Baptist, build in 1853, in the heart of the estate, boasts fine low-relief sculptures depicting human figures and animals. The interior contains an interesting iconostasis carved by artists from the Samokov school: note the Holy Trinity icon representing God the Father crowned by a triangular halo. Also noteworthy are the icons of Nikola and Stanislav Dospevski (1823-73).
