The Michelin Guide's review
A narrow street then a very steep path lead to the castle across a jumble of rocky outcrops. The many sieges have only left the ruins of this castle which was rebuilt by King Dinis. From the keep an immense panoramic view extends to the north-west over the Serra d'Estrela and to the south-west over the lake formed by the Idanha dam and the valley of Ponsul. On returning to the village, notice the isolated belfry of an old Romanesque church and several tombs dug in to the rock.
