The Michelin Guide's review
This ruined castle, one of the largest strong houses of the 17C and one of the best preserved, was built on a rocky outcrop in 1618 by Malcolm Hamilton. The walls were added in 1622 and are flanked by two towers. The castle entrance is defended by two circular towers. The gables and corbelled towers are typical of the late medieval Scottish style. The interior has vaulted kitchens on the ground floor.
