Dead Horse Point State Park

The Michelin Guide's review
This park, which consists of a huge mesa, is practically an island surrounded by deep canyons. The park was named after a herd of wild horses once corralled and forgotten on this isolated point 2 000ft above the Colorado River, where they died of thirst. Dead Horse Point Overlook, to the far south of the mesa (5 674ft), offers one of the most beautiful views in the West. A footpath runs along the cliffs, allowing visitors to walk right around this huge promontory.
