Heike Yashiki (Folkore Museum)

The Michelin Guide's review
A few kilometres from Oboke, this thatched roof house was formerly the home of Emperor Antoku's doctor, who fled here after the defeat of the Taira (or Heike) clan in 1185 - the emperor for his part opted for suicide and threw himself into the sea. The interior still has its fine old timber frame and displays a disparate collection of farming and craft tools.
