The Michelin Guide's review
The Mining Museum charts the history of mining and metallurgy. It is home to early-20C locomotives and the famous Maharajah's Wagon, a marvel of luxury built in Birmingham for a trip that Queen Victoria of England was to make to India. The museum also owns a fine collection of archaeological artefacts, some of which date back to the Bronze Age and the early days of metallurgy. In the basement is a reconstruction of a Roman mine.
