The Michelin Guide's review
Except for the 9C square bell tower and the façade (dating from 1871), the church and the baptistery were both the work of Bramante who solved the problem of lack of space in a Classical manner through his use of trompe-l'oeil golden stucco. The basilica is home to the Saccello di San Satiro, a small Oriental-style chapel with a Greek cross layout, adorned with a polychrome terracotta Pietà by Agostino Fonduli (1483-1522). The harmonious cupola crowning the baptistery is also worthy of particular note.
